Agua Fria Watercourse Master Plan
Location: Maricopa County, Arizona
The Agua Fria Watercourse master plan extends more than 32 miles through unincorporated Maricopa County and seven jurisdictions. The vision is to create a multimodal, non-motorized corridor connecting residential areas, parks, schools, recreation, and commerce within and around the project site. A master plan was needed to address flood control and public safety concerns, and create a channelized streambed. The plan also added recreational opportunities, open spaces to the corridor, and accommodated existing economic activity.
DEA, in partnership with the Friends of the West Valley Recreation Corridor, worked for more than seven years to arrive at a comprehensive plan. We used strong project management skills, hydrology and hydraulic analysis, flooding identification, floodplain delineation, surveying, alternative design assessment, and stakeholder outreach to accomplish project objectives.
