Cedar Grove Composting Facility
Location: Smith Island, Washington
DEA has provided engineering, planning, and surveying services on this state-of-the-art composting facility since 2003. DEA helped prepare exhibits to support the shoreline substantial development permit and special use applications and conducted surveying for the first construction phase. We obtained plans and permits from the city and state for a 4,000 linear foot HDPE water line to serve the site, and prepared plans and permits for an odor abatement perimeter tree berm. DEA prepared grading and drainage plans and various exhibits to support expansion of the facility, including for potential biodigestors. Currently, DEA is assisting Cedar Grove Composting to examine the feasibility of providing rail service to the facility.
