FasTracks West Rail Line Corridor, LRT Extension Final Design

Denver, Colorado
The West Corridor was the first project to begin final design under the Regional Transportation District's (RTD's) FasTracks program. The 12.1 miles of light rail will run between Denver Union Station and Jefferson County Government Golden Station, adding 11 new stations, six park-n-rides, and three new call-n-rides. It connects significant destination hubs including the Auraria Higher Education Center, INVESCO Field at Mile High, the Denver Federal Center, and the Jefferson County Government Center.

Federal Transit Administration Project Management Oversight

New York, New York
DEA was selected to assist the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) with project management oversight (PMO) services beginning in 2004. Now completing our second five-year contract, DEA works closely with staff of the FTA Region 2 Lower Manhattan Recovery Office on federally-funded recovery projects in the implementation phase. PMO services include review of the activities of the sponsoring agency, designers, and contractors to verify that they have sufficient technical capacity and capability to execute the projects. DEA also monitors budget, schedule, construction progress, and safety and quality management compliance. Risk assessment and risk management are central features of the risk-informed oversight that DEA provides FTA. As part of our contract, in addition to the oversight of the Lower Manhattan Recovery projects, DEA performs programmatic task orders for FTA Headquarters.

Bellevue Towers

Bellevue Towers is a twin-tower high-rise development in the heart of the rapidly urbanizing core of Bellevue. DEA provided multidiscipline support for this 1.2-million square foot project that includes 550 residential units rising above a seven-floor, mixed-use podium that accommodates more than 16,000 square feet of retail space and parking for more than 900 vehicles. Sustainability was a major component of the overall design, and the project achieved LEED Gold certification.

Coos Bay Channel Modification Section 203 Feasibility Study/Environmental Impact Study

Coos Bay, Oregon
As larger port authorities reach capacity on the US West Coast, small to mid-size ports are seeking opportunities for economic development by expanding their facilities. In order to authorize the channel as a federal channel eligible for maintenance dredging by the USACE, the Port is conducting a combined Draft Feasibility Study/Environmental Impact Statement (FS/EIS) of potential navigation improvements under the authority granted by Section 203 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), 1986. The FS/EIS will propose modifications to the Lower Coos Bay Navigation Channel, to accommodate larger deep draft vessels while providing a net positive local, state, and federal economic and environmental benefit. The Port contracted with DEA to lead the FS/EIS process, consisting of four phases: (1) Public Scoping, (2) Detailed Technical Studies, (3) Draft FS/EIS Development, and (4) Final FS/EIS Development and Approval.

Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project

Ellensburg and Cle Elum, Washington
The Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project consists of 48, 2.1 MegaWatt (MW) Suzlon wind turbines and has the capacity to generate up to 101 MWs of renewable power. The electricity generated will serve an estimated 28,000 households while simultaneously reducing an estimated 168,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. As the engineer of record, DEA provided BOP civil, permitting, surveying, and construction services for the project. The project infrastructure includes 15 miles of site roads, 3 miles of public road improvements, 48 turbine sites, a 10-acre laydown area, and a 6.6-acre project substation/operations/maintenance facility with an interconnection substation to BPA transmission lines.
